Paralegal Positions
The Legal Aid Society of Nassau County is seeking to hire two full-time paralegals to work in our Family Court Bureau. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in family and public interest law. Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to our Family Court and Juvenile Rights attorneys
Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, and colleagues
Assist in the interview of clients and witness and to provide Spanish translations
Assist attorneys in the preparation of financial documents
Assist attorneys in the review of discovery and other essential documents
Skills
Knowledge of MS Office and ability to work with technology
Fluency in Spanish
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under pressure
Outstanding time-management, computer and oral communication skills
Ability to multitask
Paralegal certification or diploma recommended

Staff Attorney, Appeals Bureau
Nassau County Legal Aid Society is seeking to hire an attorney to work in its Appeals Bureau. Lateral hires with appellate experience, as well as entry level attorneys or recent law graduates will be considered. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in criminal defense and/or public interest law, and demonstrated interest/experience in appellate advocacy with very strong writing skills.
Staff Attorney, District Court Trial Bureau
Nassau County Legal Aid Society is seeking entry level attorneys or recent law graduates to work in its District Court Trial Bureau. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in criminal defense and/or public interest law.

Staff Attorney, Family Court Bureau
The Legal Aid Society is currently interviewing for immediate staff attorney positions in its Family Court Bureau. We will consider applicants who have passed the New York State Bar and/or are admitted to practice law in New York State. Lateral transfers will be considered. We will also consider Law Graduates who have taken the July, 2023 New York State Bar Exam and are awaiting results. All applicants must have a demonstrated interest in parental representation and public interest law.

Pro Bono Hours
Pro bono hours for law students seeking to fulfill New York State Bar's 50 pro bono hours requirement. Currently available: assisting attorneys with weekend arraignments on Saturdays, Sundays, or both as well as court holidays. Salary/Benefits
Entry Level Salary: $85,000
